In general you will need good walking boots, clothing for both warm weather e.g. shorts and t-shirt and cold/rain/snow e.g. waterproof jacket, trousers, gloves and hat.

You will also want a small rucksack, sunglasses, a torch, suncream, a towel and toilet paper.

You will need a sleeping bag and head torch, although if you don’t wish to travel with these they can be hired. A sleeping bag is around £3 per day to hire.

Can I do the trek myself without a guide?

There is nothing to stop you walking the Atlas Mountains without a guide but it is not recommended as the routes are unmarked and conditions can be dangerous. Our experienced guides will ensure a safe and enjoyable climb.

Will I suffer altitude sickness?

Given the height of the Atlas Mountains there is potential for altitude sickness. This depends on the individual and we cannot predict an individual’s chance of suffering and to what degree. The guide will fully manage the climb to reduce chances of developing altitude sickness.

If you are concerned about altitude sickness of fitness levels, we would recommend the 3 day/2 night summit trek.
