This itinerary gives you a flavor of the trip, however all our trips are custom designed, so once you get in touch with us, we can make any additions or adjustments based on your dream itinerary!
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Agadir in the morning before beginning the journey south along the Atlantic coast toward Tiznit, a historic town famous for its traditional silver jewelry. After a short visit to the old medina, we continue inland toward the spectacular landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
The road winds through dramatic granite mountains and small Amazigh villages before reaching the charming town of Tafraoute, nestled in a valley surrounded by unique pink granite rock formations. Nearby you can also see the famous painted rocks, a striking art installation created by Belgian artist Jean Vérame.
You will have free time to explore the village and enjoy the peaceful mountain setting.
Overnight in Tafraoute
After breakfast we continue our journey through the remote landscapes of southern Morocco, passing through small villages and oases on the way to the desert town of Tata. This region is known for its palm groves and ancient caravan routes that once connected Morocco with sub-Saharan Africa.
After lunch we continue to Foum Zguid, the gateway to the Sahara. From here the paved road ends and we travel off-road across desert landscapes, dried lake beds and rocky plains to reach the vast dunes of Erg Chegaga, the largest and most remote sand dunes in Morocco.
Upon arrival at the desert camp, you will enjoy a camel ride across the dunes and stop to watch the unforgettable sunset over the Sahara.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by Amazigh music around the campfire before spending the night in a luxury desert tent beneath the stars.
Early risers can wake up to watch the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Afterward we leave the desert and travel toward the lush Draa Valley, famous for its endless palm groves and historic kasbahs.
Our first stop will be the village of Tamegroute, known for its traditional green pottery workshops where artisans continue centuries-old ceramic techniques. We will also visit the historic library containing ancient manuscripts.
We then continue along the Draa Valley to visit the impressive Kasbah Tamnougalte, one of the oldest kasbahs in southern Morocco and once an important stop on the caravan trade routes.
In the afternoon we arrive in the peaceful oasis town of Agdz, surrounded by palm groves and kasbahs.
Overnight in a beautiful restored kasbah in Agdz.
After breakfast we begin the journey back toward Agadir. Our first stop is the town of Tazenakht, famous throughout Morocco for its hand-woven carpets. Here you can visit local cooperatives and learn about the traditional weaving techniques.
We then continue to Taliouine, the heart of Morocco’s saffron production. If time permits, we may visit a small saffron cooperative to discover how this precious spice is harvested and prepared.
Next we travel to the historic city of Taroudant, often called “Little Marrakech.” Surrounded by impressive red ramparts, the city offers lively souks and traditional markets.
In the afternoon we return to Agadir, arriving around early evening where your desert adventure comes to an end.
We believe the magic of the Moroccan desert is best experienced away from large tour groups and rigid schedules. A private tour allows you to travel at your own pace, stop whenever you like for photos or breaks, and enjoy a much more authentic and comfortable journey.
Unlike many shared group tours, there are no forced shopping stops, crowded vehicles, or rushed itineraries. You’ll have your own private driver, personalized service, and carefully selected accommodations to ensure a more relaxed and memorable experience.
For families or groups travelling together, private tours also offer excellent value, as the cost per person can often be similar to a shared tour — but with a far higher quality experience.
To confirm your trip, we require a 20% deposit, which can be securely paid online using a debit or credit card.
We are a UK registered company and accept all major international cards, including American Express, with no additional payment fees.
The remaining balance is due 14 days before your arrival date.
We understand that travel plans can sometimes change, and we always try to be as flexible and helpful as possible wherever we can.

We focus on authentic, locally owned accommodation for all of our trips, both to offer you a truly ‘Moroccan’ experience but also to support sustainable tourism and the local economy. On this tour you will stay in a mix of guest houses and a luxury desert camp. Once you contact us to book your trip, we will work with you to select the perfect accommodation for your budget and needs.
The starting price for this trip is £400 per person, based on a family of 4 travelling. Please note that the price per person varies dependent on group size, choice of accommodation and time of year. The larger the group the more cost effective the per-person rate.
